homework

The regular work done at home by a student in connection with the school program is important. It not only helps to establish a discipline that is essential for movement up the educational scale, but provides a valuable link for the home as to what is happening at school, as well as giving parents and the child the opportunity to work side by side.

At St Paul, every child can be expected to spend some time each Monday to Thursday night on some aspect of school work. This will include written work, as well as oral and study activities.

General Guidelines are as follows:

Reception & Year 1
Daily Reading (40 minutes per week)
Year 2
Daily reading and occasional finishing of work (60 minutes per week)
Years 3 & 4
Basically oral and study, some written work completing exercises and assignments (80 minutes per week)
Years 5 & 6
Written and study (120 minutes per week)
Year 7
Written and study (180 minutes per week).

Most students will have a diary for this purpose. Younger ones will have a note from the teacher.
